TITLE: High School LIFE Program Co-Teacher
STAFF LEVEL: Support Staff
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Part Time, 10-month

Overall Responsibilities
The following expectations and job description are the minimal expectation for all teachers at Life Christian Academy. The primary role of a Co-Teacher at Life Christian Academy is to support in the teaching of students to know and love Jesus Christ through ethics, respect, academics, and programs.

Principle Responsibilities
Collaborative Planning and Instruction:

  • Collaborate with lead teachers to support engaging and differentiated instruction in content core subjects (such as social studies, science) as needed.

  • Provide support and additional instruction/review of concepts and skills to students through small group instruction or one-on-assistance.

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and abilities

Student Support and Accommodations:

  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies and accommodations to support students with different learning needs.

  • Monitor student progress and provide targeted interventions to ensure academic success.

  • Modify assignments, projects, and tests to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Assist in the development and administration of assessments to evaluate student learning.

  • Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and provide feedback to students and parents.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.

Classroom Management and Environment:

  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and a sense of community.

  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and implementing effective behavior management strategies.

  • Support lead teachers in maintaining a safe and organized classroom.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, guardians, and other stakeholders about student progress and needs.

  • Collaborate with LIFE Program teachers, counselors, and other support personnel as needed.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions.

  • Maintain accurate files, and records of student performance and accommodations provided for the organization.

  • Maintain accurate data collection and record keeping.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.

  • Maintain confidential information.

  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and policies.

  • Ability to attend to detail, follow directions, and see tasks through to completion.

  • Ability to organize tasks, activities, and set priorities within established parameters.

  • Adaptable to schedule and/or adapt to changes affecting planned schedule or events.

Certifications and Licensure

  • First Aid/CPR

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree

  • Minimum 2 years experience in related field

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Current Teaching Certificate

  • Five years classroom experience

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

  • Sitting (or standing) at a desk/computer for prolonged periods of time

  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times

  • Speaking for several minutes at a time

  • This role participates in the random drug screening

Travel
Other than travel to and from the worksite, it is not anticipated except as may be necessary to attend offsite training or conference.

Hours: Monday through Friday. 1-19 hours per week. Exact schedule between the hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm will be specified with supervisor on hire.

Benefits: Paid sick leave in accordance with the Life Center Employee Handbook of Policies, Practices, and Procedures.
